The ASO itself was excellent as always and enjoyed their performance. However was extremely disappointed to learn that there were no fireworks - what is a celebration of America without fireworks. The asst conductor is in his first year and hopefully he will improve and feel more relaxed. He stumbled through every introduction and seemed to be in a rush to get the show over with. Last year's performance had singers and I think this year's suffered from lack of singers on stage. There were no flags on the tables either. It just seemed like a very spiritless attempt at a celebration. Bottom line - the symphony was good but the show itself was lacking
